RBSA Photography Prize

Exhibiting at the RBSA Photography Prize 2024

I’m incredibly pleased to have exhibited at the RBSA Photography Prize at the RBSA Gallery this year. The competition, held biennially, brings together a wide range of photographic talent, and having my work selected for inclusion was a great milestone—especially as my first exhibition since graduating. It felt good to be exhibiting again, stepping back into the gallery space and sharing my work with a new audience.

For the show, I exhibited my piece "FF Carreras and FF Cochran", a continuation of my documentary work focusing on firefighters. Seeing it displayed among such a diverse collection of photographic approaches was exciting, and I was particularly pleased with how my work stood out within the space. I had a lot of interest from visitors, with many hovering around my piece and engaging with it, which was a great feeling.

The opening night was packed, creating a buzzing atmosphere where photographers, artists, and visitors came together to celebrate the exhibition. It was a pleasure to meet Vanley Burke, whose work and insight I’ve always admired, and I had an extended conversation with John Boaz, which was a highlight of the evening. Moments like these remind me how valuable exhibitions are—not just for showing work but for connecting with other photographers and artists.

I also want to congratulate the winners of this year’s prize—there was a fantastic variety of work on display, and it was great to see so many approaches to photography. The RBSA Photography Prize is such an important platform for contemporary photography, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it.

Looking forward to the next one!
